Theodore Robert Bundy was an American serial killer who kidnapped, raped, and murdered numerous young women and girls in the 1970s. After years of denial, he confessed to thirty murders in seven states between 1974 and 1978. The exact number of his victims is unknown.
Bundy often pretended to have a physical impairment or posed as an authority figure to gain his victims' trust. He would lure them to a secluded area, knock them unconscious, handcuff them, and take them to a remote location to sexually assault and kill them.
He revisited the bodies, performing sex acts on the corpses until decomposition or animals made it impossible. He decapitated at least twelve victims, keeping their heads as mementos. Sometimes, he broke into homes at night to attack and assault his victims while they slept.
